Patience urged for Fieldays

The music of the horns of frustrated motorists is expected to ring out in the Waikato as people head to Fieldays.

The national event is entering its second day and Waikato Police are reminding motorists to expect heavy delays when using roads in and around the Mystery Creek site.

Inspector Freda Grace says as with every year, there is a huge volume of traffic heading in and out of the area and, when combined with the usual morning traffic, significant delays occur.

'We urge motorists to plan their drive in today to allow extra time if they are using roads leading to the Mystery Creek event,” says Freda.

All main routes will be affected, including State Highway 1 through Hamilton, State Highway 1B and State Highway 3 from Te Awamutu to Hamilton.

'As a result, traffic within the city will be congested,” adds Freda, 'and patience is required on your journey today.”
