The big D s big day out

My big outing for the week was the Quarryfest at Te Puna.
Boy, was that a BIG day out. I haven't seen so many people running around outdoors since that day I had a wee accident in the newsroom and caused a mass evacuation. Known as Diesel's First Movement, and it ain't no symphony.

But that's another story.
Up at the quarry, there were smiling faces everywhere.
Little cuzzie Ady was pretty blown away by the thronging masses.
We got to the gate and rummaged in the doggie bag for a gold coin donation. Would you believe it, we didn't have any coins. Must have used them all in the doggy wash machine. So we wrote the nice man an IOU on a $10 note. He seemed more than happy with that.
Then we were given a map of the quarry park. Map, who needs a map? My Food Connoisseur heritage kicked in and I lead the way to the food tents. Ady's bloodhound heritage took over and we proceeded to drag the twoleggers around at breakneck pace.
Well it would have been breakneck, if the boss hadn't hauled her back from the edge of the precipice at the top of the quarry.
Up there, they were abseiling. Young Ady was doing her own version of abseiling – straining at the end of the leash. After clambering around all the tracks we were feeling particularly athletic, until we met a couple of former racing greyhounds loping along. Man, that Ruby has a great set of legs. I'd like to pursue those finely-sculptured hindquarters through the long grass, although my chances of keeping up would be, like Ruby, pretty slim.
This picnic is my ideal outing. Fast women and fast food.
It was a great day out and a credit to the park people for all their hard work.
I even managed a little market research for my old mate Johnny, by checking out the quality of the Bangers on sale.
