Are you over-treating your skin?

Moments of Tranquillity
with Dani Sheridan

The online world can make us feel the only way to achieve significant changes is to choose the strongest, most expensive or invasive option available.

While treatments such as microneedling, IPL, peels and active skincare can deliver fantastic results, doing too much too soon can have the opposite effect. Your skin may look recovered within days of an advanced treatment, but underneath the repair process continues much longer.

The more advanced the treatment, the more important recovery becomes. Hydration, barrier support and giving your skin time to heal are essential to achieving results – not a break from them.

The same applies to homecare. Layering multiple acids, exfoliants, retinoids and other active ingredients every day isn’t necessarily better. Sometimes your skin needs simplicity. Skin cycling – alternating active nights with recovery nights – can be a great way to balance correction with barrier support.

A good therapist won’t simply recommend more when your skin feels tight, dry, sensitive or irritated. Sometimes they’ll recommend less.

Advanced treatments work best when we’re starting with healthy, well-supported skin. Stepping back and strengthening the basics can help us move forward.

This spring at Tranquillo, our Spring Refresh includes a signature facial and Observ skin consultation for $100, usually $220. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover what your skin has actually been trying to tell you.
