Kaitaia Police are investigating the death of a 29-year-old local man.
Police say the man was presented at the Kaitaia Hospital about 10.30pm on Saturday and died a short time later from his injuries.
Police are investigating a dispute which occurred in the Fairburn area prior to this. A 50-year-old man has been arrested in relation to that dispute.
