Man apprehended in Takapuna

At around 10.30am, Waitemata Police were called to North Shore Hospital after a man made threats to hospital staff.

The man ran from police and enetered the grounds of Takapuna Normal Intermediate shortly before being apprehended and taken into police custody.

The school was briefly put in lockdown, although this was lifted after short period of time.

There were no concerns for the safety of the staff or students, and the school has returned to operating as normal.

"We thank members of the public and the school for their patience this morning," says police.
