The Trustpower TECT open day is part of a series of open days being held around the central North Island in March.

Community generosity plays a crucial role in funding the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter, and with over 8,000 ‘Friends' in the region, the upcoming open day is an opportunity for people to see the impact their donations can have.

'The Bay of Plenty community are loyal supporters of our rescue helicopter,” says pilot and base manager, Liam Brettkelly.

'We have a strong network of advocates and the open day is a chance to show them what we do and where their hard earned funds go.”

Tauranga's open day will enable the public to get up close and personal with the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter and crew.

Rescue demonstrations by both the helicopter team and local emergency services will take place alongside competitions, refreshments, entertainment and the opportunity to win a helicopter flight.

Admission to the open day, which will take place on Sunday, March 22 from 10am-to-2pm, is free, and will take place in the Ian Pain Memorial Hangar, 17th Avenue, Tauranga Hospital.
