Man pleads guilty to paedophilia charges

A Tauranga man has pleaded guilty to a raft of charges against three named complainants is remanded in custody for sentencing on January 18, 2011.

Richard Antony Clark, 42, a former Bay of Plenty Times IT manager, pleaded guilty to 15 representative charges of sexual violation by an unlawful sexual connection, eight representative charges of indecent assault on a child, and two representative charges of indecent assault on a young person, and one charge of meeting a young person following sexual grooming.

An additional 12 indecent assault charges on a young person, two sexual violation charges and an indecent assault charge were included in the police summary.

The sexual violation charges carry a maximum 20 years jail sentence.

The offending took place over ten year period from 2001 when one of the complainants was ten years old, until July this year when another complainant was 15.

Judge Merelina Burnett warned Clark that any future serious convictions will result in him serving his full sentence without parole, because convictions in July this year took place after the three strikes law came into effect in June.
