Cuddly animals looking for a home

Bubbles are floating sky high as people enjoy the family fun day as part of the Tauranga SPCA adopt-a-thon today.

The SPCA has everything from face painting, bounty castles, and bubbles going everywhere to kittens, dogs, rabbits and cats up for adoption.

Tauranga SPCA operations manager Margaret Rawiri says their annual event is going really well.

'I can't put kittens in adoption fast enough. At least 20 to 30 kittens have been adopted already in an hour.”

People coming to take home a new part are a mixture of first timers to the SPCA and people who have adopted from the organisation before.

'There is a discount on today, there is 20 per cent off all the adoption prices and our normal adoption criteria still applies,” says Margaret.

'We hope, with even giving the discount, its convincing those who have already thought about adopting a pet to go through with it.

'A couple of rabbits have been adopted. We still have five left and another seven in quarantine that won't be available until next week.”
