Dave Dobbyn was right. When I spoke to him before the show, he said the 2015 Winery Tour would be 'fun, of course!” Well Dave, it certainly was.

So much fun that mum and I found ourselves unable to control the foot tapping, head bobbing and out-of-tune sing-alongs, along with the rest of the crowd.

It started with queen of this year's Winery Tour Anika Moa. We arrived at 6pm on the dot and Anika's lyrics to ‘Youthful' that echoed from the winery had mum and me already humming along to the words: 'You're so beautiful oh whoa oh”.

Once through the gates, we set up for the evening. A picnic of cheese, crackers, chips, dip and chocolate-filled raspberry liquorice logs – washed down with a perfectly good bottle of 2014 Mills Reef Winery Estate Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough.

The field was already full with people in jandals, hats and sunnies, ready for a good night out. For two women, the good night started about half an hour into Anika's set when the pair got their boogie on early. Anika was thrilled.

The women were joined by more dancers when Che Fu and Supergroove took to the stage. It was the ‘Can't Get Enough' song that got mum and me on our feet. Just like Dave promised, we were having fun.

Having fun watching some of the awesome, yet very unique, styles of dancing people were pulling out on the dance floor – and having fun joining them ourselves.

It was 8.30pm before we knew it when the crowd welcomed Dave and Don McGlashan. That man has the most beautiful voice. I'm already a fan of Dave – and that will never change – but Don you rocked the socks off Hollie Smith's song ‘Bathe in the River'.

A few songs into their act and the crowd was screaming to hear Dave's hit song ‘Loyal'. It was hard not to sing along.

All in all, the visit to Tauranga was an excellent start to the Winery Tour 2015. Anika, Supergroove, Dave and Don will be at Auckland's Villa Maria Winery tonight and will visit seven other wineries throughout the country until Feb 28. Visit www.winerytour.co.nz for more info.

I recommend checking them out. Tip: Don't forget to bring your singing voice and dance moves for the evening. A bottle of some of the country's finest wines wouldn't go a miss either! It may help you find your groove.

Hollie's song?

Don McGlashan wrote 'Bathe in the River ' - it's his song, not Hollie's. It was written for the movie "No. 2" and Hollie Smith sang it, but it's one of Don's many awesome compositions he's created for movies over the decades.
