Waikato District Command Centre senior sergeant Rupert Friend says an investigation is underway to find out how he managed to escape.
"However, the most important issue for us at this time is his recapture," says Rupert. "Associates of Campbell are reminded that anyone found helping an escaped prisoner to evade Police could themselves face criminal charges."
Anyone who has seen Campbell or has any information to his whereabouts should contact Detective Sergeant Mortimore of Hamilton Police on 07-858-6200.
Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers by calling 0800-555-111.
