"All people driving this afternoon are in the same boat,” says Rupert. 'Please be patient and expect your journey to take much longer than usual.

'Impatient drivers will only cause accidents, and then struggle to get their destination at all.”

Police hope all drivers will get safely to their destinations and get to enjoy their holidays, careful patient drivers will help this.

It is expected these conditions will last for the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening.
