The Whakatane Aquatic Centre will be getting a new boiler as major repairs are undertaken on the centre's outdoor pool.

Whakatane District Council says getting the pool back into service is a top priority, especially with the anticipated demand for its use during the summer period.

'The outdoor pool is now scheduled to be opened on Saturday, November 1,” says a statement on the council's Facebook page.

'The closure of the outdoor pool will put extra demand on the indoor pool; therefore, any limitations for its use will be communicated.

'We apologise for the inconvenience and will endeavour to provide the best service possible.”
