Three-car crash on SH2

UPDATE: Motorists are being advised to avoid using State Highway 2, between Te Maunga and Domain Road, as police deal with a three-car crash.

Police were called to the crash at around 8.30am.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says there are no reports of serious injuries at this stage.

'Diversions are in place around the crash and we hope to get traffic flowing soon.

'I do ask that people avoid the area and use Domain Road, Papamoa Beach Road and back down on Girven Road.”

Sergeant Wayne Hunter says a light blue car has suffered severe frontal damage when it appears to have crossed the centre line, crashing with two other vehicles travelling from Papamoa.

Wayne says the impact of the crash has caused a van to lose one of its wheels and another vehicle has ended up in a ditch.

'Two people have been taken to Tauranga Hospital with minor injuries,” he adds.

Delays in the area are expected to ease soon and police advised motorists are advised to drive with care.
