Taking GST off food a winner

Whilst driving around the town and suburbs, one board that caught my eye was New Zealand first, and one of the promises that really got me excited was there promise to take GST off food and rates.

Now what an opportunity, for the senior citizens and young alike to at last get a party into power that could do that, just think, in a sense it would be an instant pay rise in one way and another, as consider the amount of food a family buys, consider the exorbitant rates we are paying every year, and remember this: our councillors of the day decide this or that needs refurbishing, rebuilding, or anything else that might generate more money, that they can then spend on something else that we the rate payers don't have a lot of say in.

So here is an opportunity, that won't come around again if ever, for GST-haters like myself, and I'm sure there are many like me that would like to see this gestapo tax taken off both rates and food.

Do the sums and see what you will save over a year, just the GST you pay every year alone on our ever-increasing rates bill will help you savings, then your food bill will also surprise you in how much GST factored,it over the year.

I know who I will be voting for, as I could do with an instant pay rise, and I'm sure there are many superannuates, low income earners, and pensioners, who could also do with a little more money in the pockets. Think about it people, is it a chance to good to miss on?

GST and food

Buy the voters with promises of tax cuts which cynically are due just prior to the election and you feed money into the pockets of the already "well rewarded" and the pubs, bottle shops, and TAB - not to mention the tobacco companies whilst food price reduction via GST relief benefits ALL in a fair and equitable way. Pollies talk of "child poverty". What does that mean. They talk of providing breakfasts as schools. Cut the GST and you go along way to addressing both those issues. I'm not so sure of GST off rates though. Would this exclude owners of multiple dwellings such as "Investment property" tax dodge schemes? - the double dippers in our community?
