TEL interchange road closures begin

Motorists are advised to expect delays while a section of State Highway 2 in Papamoa is closed for the next six nights as work on the Tauranga Eastern Link continues.

The New Zealand Transport Agency states from today, SH2 between Welcome Bay Road and Domain Road will be temporarily closed as contractors work to construct the Te Puke approach to the new Domain Road interchange roundabout.

Eastbound traffic, from Tauranga to Te Puke, will be diverted via Domain Road, Tara Road, Parton Road and Bell Road until 6pm today.

From 6am to 6pm tomorrow, both eastbound and westbound traffic motorists travelling between Te Puke to Tauranga will also be diverted.

Each night from Monday to Friday, September 8-12, between 7pm and 6am diversions for both eastbound and westbound traffic will be in place.

Sunday, September 7:

· 6am to 6pm eastbound traffic diverted (Tauranga to Te Puke)

· 6pm to 6am both directions diverted - eastbound (Tauranga to Te Puke) and westbound (Te Puke to Tauranga)

Each night from Monday, September 8 through to Friday, September 12

· 7pm to 6am both directions diverted - eastbound (Tauranga to Te Puke) and westbound (Te Puke to Tauranga)
