Teen critically injured in crash

A Murupara teenager is in critical condition in Waikato Hospital Intensive Care Unit after being involved in a car crash on Te Ngae Road in Rotorua.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to Rotorua Hospital to transport the 16-year-old this afternoon.


A teenager has been airlifted to Waikato Hospital in critical condition.

Pilot Dan Harcourt says the teen was reportedly an unrestrained back seat passenger and suffered multiple injuries.

'He was transported from Rotorua Hospital ICU to Waikato Hospital ICU and remains in a critical condition.”

Police say the crash brought down three power poles across the road outside Placemakers just before 10am.
