Fire Safety is this morning investigating a fire that gutted a cottage at Waikino near Waihi overnight.
The cottage on an isolated road at the top end of Waitekauri Road was well involved when Waihi Volunteer fire fighters arrived, says the Northern Fire Communications centre shift manager Scott Osborne.
There is no information on the current residents of the property in Golden Cross Road.
Tauranga fire safety officer Bill Rackham is on his way to Waikino to investigate the cause of a fire.
