Speedway drivers celebrate

Bay of Plenty Speedway Association celebrated its 2013/2014 season champions at an annual awards dinner overnight.

ASB Baypark manager Roger Bailey says it was an evening to celebrate success at a local plus national level, where ASB Baypark has been well represented this season.

The success includes three times New Zealand Champions, one 2NZ, plus the legendary Baypark Busters win in the Palmerston North Super Stock Teams Championship.

Roger says the seasons highest points overall winners include 92M Scott Hayward Stock Cars, 2NZ Brent McClymont Saloons, 88M Keaton Dahm Sprint Cars, 41M Terry Corin Super Saloons - with the trio of NZ titles included - Rodney Wood Sprint Cars, Mark Osborne Super Saloons and Chris Cowling Saloons.

The president's trophy was presented to 2NZ Brent McClymont to recognise his 23 years as a driver.

In particular, his achievements during the 2013/2014 season that included a position on the podium at all three NZ championship that he contested.

Achievements also included second in NZ Saloon Champs, first in NZ Saloon Grand Prix, third in North Island Saloon Championship, second in BOP Saloon Championship, second in South Pacific Saloon 30 Lapper, third in La Z Boy Saloon Series, third in King Country Saloon Championship, third in Saloon Feature, highest points overall BOP Speedway Association and first Saloon highest points overall BOP Speedway Association.
