Police urge safe travelling

Another long weekend is upon us and as people set out to travel rain has arrived in the Waikato.

Inspector Freda Grace, the Waikato Road Policing Manager, urges all people who are travelling on our roads this weekend to plan ahead, and allow plenty of time for your journey.

"Please breath easy and allow enough breathing space for all other road users. Please allow extra following distance on all wet roads."

During Easter Waikato saw large delays on some of the major roads, especially during wet weather.

"It is hoped that all drivers will be patient and expect for their trip to take longer than it might at other times of year."

A further reminder is given to all drivers that the speed tolerance of 4km/h is still in place until after this weekend.

"Police will be out on the roads in high numbers and are there to ensure the safety of all road users.

"Anzac Day is time for remembrance of the bravery of those who have gone before us, it is not a time to create any further tragedies. Police hope that all road users get to their destination safely and enjoy the weekend with their friends and family."
