What’s on Today? CrossFit

Athletes are gearing up to take part in New Zealand's biggest CrossFit competition at ASB Arena this weekend.

CrossFit is a worldwide fitness phenomenon and organisers say its popularity is growing with all 70 team entries available in this year's national competition snapped up in just two weeks.

Both men and women will be competing in the CrossFit competition this weekend.

It combines endurance, weight-lifting, gymnastics and much more into a high intensity workout and is one of the world's fastest-growing sports.

Last year there were 2100 CrossFit gyms – or boxes - registered globally. Today, there are more than 3500 – with the sport's head office receiving up to 50 new applications a week.

The competition will be taking part today and tomorrow.

Entry tickets to the Mount CrossFit National Team Competition on October 20 and 21 are available at the door for just $10 per adult, $5 per child or $20 for a family pass.
