Cambridge crash victim named

Police have released the name of a Tauranga woman who died after the ute she was in crashed into a river near Cambridge.

Susan Donna Ramsay was travelling with another person with the ute and trailer it was towing crashed at the intersection of State Highway 1 and Shakespeare Street on Saturday.

Police initially reported that the 60-year-old had died at the scene, but it was later revealed she was taken to Waikato Hospital in critical condition.

Unfortunately, Susan never regained consciousness and died in Waikato Hospital on Monday.

The man who was in the vehicle with her when it crashed into the Waikato River is in moderate condition in Waikato Hospital.

The ute the pair were in plunged 10 metres into the river near Cambridge.

Bystanders who witnessed the crash rushed to the scene to help.

'Police inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing,” says a statement from police.

'Police offer their sympathies to the friends and family of Ms Ramsay at this sad time.”
