Gunpoint car theft arrest

Police have arrested a man following an investigation to a car that was taken at gunpoint.

A 29-year-old is in police custody in relation to the robbery which happened in Hamilton on Friday, July 21.

Detective Sergeant Terri Wilson says police have concluded that he was working alone.

'The man was located at a Hamilton central address and taken into custody without incident, with the assistance of Waikato Armed offenders squad.”

Terri says police remained at the address yesterday afternoon searching and speaking to other occupants.

'Police would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in this matter.

'The man will be appearing in the Hamilton District Court this morning on an aggravated robbery charge.”
