A collection of images shot by a Tauranga photographer are set to appear in an internationally produced magazine next month.

Earlier this week photographer and trainee teacher Scott White learned several photos he captured during the New Zealand International Tattoo and Art Expo back in February will be published in the upcoming April/May Australian edition of tattoo and lifestyle magazine Inked.

Scott explains he was down at the expo helping out a friend who'd asked him to shoot photos of the event for his website.

'Chris [Preece] who organised the expo called me up saying Inked emailed him saying the wanted to use my photos, I was like ‘Yeah? Yeah, sweet!'” he says with a laugh.

'It's pretty crack up, I take a lot of photos for free or for a little koha, I like to get out there shooting as much as I can, plus it's my way of giving back to my friends and the community. So I never expected anything return, I was just helping out a mate. I'm pretty stoked.”

In total he's submitted 12 photos for Inked to consider, he thinks up to four might be published, 'but it'd be awesome if they used all of them”.

Currently Scott's in the midst of training to become and secondary school Visual Arts and Photography teacher, and says this week's news has been an awesome distraction from the pressures of studying.

'It's also cool to have this achievement because I can show the students and say to them ‘if you want it, you can get published', that sort of buzz.”
