There was a lot of action at the Tauranga Racecourse on Friday, with both of the biggest races won by top weights.

The feature race – the Crockford Real Estate open handicap over 1400 – was won by Trojan Warrior, while Race Seven, the C U at Phoenix 1600, was won by Hiflyer.

Racing Tauranga spokesperson Andrew Love says the crowd was good for a weekday.

'From our point of view Friday meetings can be hard, because people are at work. But a good little crowd turned up.”

He says the racing was good with no real upsets or unexpected wins, while the track was also in great condition.

'It was a bit of a favourites day. The next time the track will be used is Waitangi weekend when they bring the harness racing down.”
