Areas of Cambridge Road are cordoned off tonight as police are involved in a pursuit. Multiple calls to the 0800SUNLIVE news hotline report a heavy police presence around the area near River Oaks Drive.

A caller says a speeding vehicle came from the Katikati direction and could have been spiked as its tyre was "exploding" as it travelled through Bethlehem.

it's thought the car pulled a U-turn on or near the expressway, clipped another car and lost a wheel, and turned onto Cambridge Road. The caller says there are gouge marks in the road.

A car was seen abandoned off the road, in a bush. The callers all say there are "cops everywhere."
