A magnitude 4.9 earthquake has struck near White Island this morning.
GeoNet reports the quake occurred at 8.38am.
The quake was centred approximately 55km north of White Island, with a depth of 194km.
The intensity is described as 'weak””
There are no reports of a tsunami.
People are reporting that they have felt the quake throughout the North Island.
