Sevens titles for Tauranga colleges

Tauranga Girls' and Tauranga Boys' College rugby players lit up Rotorua International Stadium on the first day of the Bay of Plenty Secondary Schools Sevens Tournament.

Kicking off on Friday and continuing today, the tournament is one of the biggest qualification tournaments in the country for the 2016 Condor Sevens.

Day one's results saw both Tauranga Girls' and Boys' colleges come out on top, winning both their respective Open Under 15's titles. Tauranga Girls' with won 17-10 over rivals Rotorua Girls High School, and Tauranga Boys' with an impressive 25-12 win over Rotorua Boys' High School.

While Rotorua Boys' demonstrated their dominance and put on an impressive display to win 28-5 over Otumoetai College A in the U14 Open grade.

Today sees the U19 Boys and Girls division, and the U16 Boys division taking to the field to battle it out. The U19 Girls final takes place at 4pm, while the U19 Boys final kicks off at 5pm.
