A motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries after colliding with a bus at a roundabout in Greerton.

A witness at the scene says the motorcyclist appears to have gone through the windscreen of the bus as a result of the crash which occurred at Barkes Corner, the roundabout of Cameron Road and State Highway 29 and 29A, shortly after 4pm.

A police spokesperson says along with the motorcycle, two other cars were also involved in the crash.

'The motorcyclist has required medical treatment from ambulance staff who are at the scene and is believed to have suffered Status Two (serious) injuries.”

Police staff and fire crews were also dispatched to the scene.

The road is partially blocked and a caller to the 08000 SUNLIVE news hotline says traffic heading towards Greerton is backed up to McLaren Falls.

It would be so good if drivers would INDICATE LEFT when they are leaving a roundabout instead of continuing to indicate right & then turning left- traffic waiting to enter has to read the others mind as to their intention & waits to see if in fact they are turning right or just can't handle flicking the indicater stalk to the left, it's so easy to do & speeds up the traffic flow. I can do it & change gears at the same time in a manual transmission car, should be a piece of cake in an auto....

How fast the BUS was going to get a motorcyclist to go thru the windshield? Maybe they should put stricter speed limits on busses? {sarcasm} I do hope the motorcyclist is ok tho... that must have been a scary ride? Hopefully the bus driver is ok too.

I still notice a lot of road users (including many PSV and trucks) STILL indicating a right turn approaching a roundabout when in fact going straight ahead ...particularly dangerous to two wheeled riders if they are indicating a right turn in the left approach lane.! (yes it commonly happens) and then usually at the next roundabout not indicate at all!..did all that effort doing an illegal move wear them out d'ya reckon?Wonder if that happened in this case?..we will never get to find out of course.
