New councils to be sworn in

The Bay of Plenty Regional Council is leading the charge into the new triennium by swearing in its councillors and electing its chairman and deputy chairman next week.

The ceremonial meeting will be taking place at the regional council's chambers in Whakatāne on Tuesday October 25, at 9.15am.

In Tauranga City, new mayor Greg Brownless and sole new councillor Max Mason will be sworn in during a council meeting on Monday, October 31.

Two other new councillors, Terry Molloy and Larry Baldock, will also be sworn in after they were re-elected following a three-year break.

The fist scheduled meeting of the new Tauranga City Council is slated for November 22, though councillors have been attending briefings and meetings since the election.

While Western Bay of Plenty District Council's first meeting is on Thursday, November 10 in Te Puke.

This is also more of a ceremonial meeting with friends and family invited. The district council tradition is to move these meetings around the district.

New mayor Garry Webber's first business meeting of the new triennium is two weeks later on Thursday, November 24.

All the meetings and Baubles,meetings and briefings,tea and biscuits,talk a lot of Rubbish,how we will spend our RATEPAYER MONEY Nothing will change and will be just the same,it will spin out till XMAS and then a holiday,and start back in FEB,.and more meetings till june,and again and another holiday,(which is everyday) sixpence worth No1 in the Bay Thankyou.
