Aggravated robbery in Gisborne

Overnight the Mobil Portside on Wainui Road, Gisborne, was subject to an aggravated robbery.

A male entered the service station in the early hours of this morning armed with a tomahawk and demanded money and cigarettes from the attendant, while a second offender kept watch outside.

Both men fled on foot with a sum of money.

A police dog was able to track to the pair who were hiding nearby.

The pair were arrested and will appear in Gisborne District Court later today on aggravated robbery charges.
