Tauranga Police armed offenders squad travelled to Taupo today to assist Taupo police with a seach of a Tawa Street address.

But while armed police were searching the house, the man they were looking for on a probation warrant turned up at the Taupo probation office, to have the matter cleared.

Police would like to thank members of the public for their patience while streets in the area were closed. Police would like to reassure the community that their safety was never at risk as this enquiry was carried out.

AOS were only used as a precaution for the safety of staff, says a police spokesperson at the Police Media Centre.
