Man arrested for serious attack

A 21-year-old man has been arrested today and will appear in Waitakere District Court tomorrow for a serious attack on a male student in Henderson on Saturday night (August 20).

The man, who was unknown to the victim, will face charges of injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and aggravated robbery.

The man hit the victim on the head with a hammer and assaulted him while demanding money, before fleeing with the victim's cell phone and car keys.

The victim suffered injuries to his skull as a result of being struck with the hammer.

As the matter is now before the Courts Police are unable to comment further.
