Body discovered in Taupo search

Police have discovered the body of a Taupo man whose been missing for four days.

Alan Pritchard 78, who suffered from dementia was last seen taking the bins out at his home in Bonshaw Park on the outskirts of Taupo, on Thursday morning.

However, Alan's body was discovered by Search and Rescue teams just north of his property in a forest shortly before midday today says Senior Constable Barry Shepherd.

'We're really sad that we didn't find Mr Pritchard alive but we are glad we can return him to his family.

'Police would like to thank the public for their assistance and the volunteers involved in the search for their efforts.”

Police will continue to support Alan's family at this difficult time.
