Te Puke unveiling new billboard

The Te Puke ‘It's Not OK' campaign is dedicated to lifting the lid on domestic abuse and getting help for those affected by it.

The campaign, which started in 2007, provides the public with information regarding what is considered abuse, where to go if you need help and provides the domestic abuse statistics for New Zealand.

The organisation also offers help to those who are violent towards others, offering a series of reform programmes.

According to their official website the campaign also focusses on spreading their message through the use of the media and the public, with a series of television ads, spreading their message of it's not ok as well as spreading the stories of those who were previously affected by violence.

The organisation also frequently asks the public for their assistance, using their official Facebook page as a communication tool.

The campaign has so far been hugely successful with the Ministry of Social Development revealing that 68 per cent of people who saw the adverts on television not only remembered them but also gained a deeper understanding of the issue and discussed the issue afterwards.

Te Puke first launched their campaign on March 12 and they took to their official Facebook page to thank the huge amount of people who showed up to the event.

Now, Te Puke is continuing on with their campaign to stop violence and help those in need.

On May 1, the Te Puke team will be unveiling their new ‘It's Not OK' billboard on Te Puke Highway, opposite Western Bay Hire Centre at 2pm and invite the public along.

The billboard will represent Te Puke's dedication to ending violence and getting people talking about the topic.
