This is the third time Powerball has been struck in 2016, continuing the lucky streak for Lotto players.
Just over two weeks ago a ticket bought in Ohakune won $6.8 million with Powerball First Division, with the winner taking eight days to claim their prize after forgetting they had even purchased a ticket.
Meanwhile, in early January a family from Timaru won $7 million with Powerball First Division.
Nine other Lotto players from around the country also won $100,000 tonight.
Strike Four was not struck tonight and has rolled over to Saturday's draw where it will be worth $300,000.
Anyone who bought their ticket from the any of the above winning stores should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it immediately at any Lotto outlet, online at mylotto.co.nz or through the Lotto NZ ticket-checker app.
Players can phone Lotto on 0800 695 6886 if they want to enquire about the best way to claim a prize.
