Police can now confirm that the person who died in yesterday morning's fatal car accident in Mt Roskill was a 23-year-old woman.
The woman was a back seat passenger in the vehicle which crashed in Farrelly Ave at around 1.30am.
The other people in the car were an 18-year-old man, who was driving, an 18-year-old woman and another 23-year-old woman.
All three were taken to hospital but one has since been released.
Police say speed was the likely cause of the crash but the Police Serious Crash Unit is still investigating.
