Police have grave concerns for a 15-year-old girl who has told her family she is being held against her will.

They want to speak to 36-year-old Dean Wayne Whakatau in relation to this enquiry as information indicates he was with her in Rotorua as recently as Sunday morning.

LA Tukerangi made contact with a family member on Saturday asking for help and indicated she was being held against her will.

Whakatau is subject to a warrant to arrest for breach of release conditions and the public are warned not to approach him.

He is described as 170cm tall, solid build and is missing two front teeth.

Police are asking for any sightings of LA Tukerangi or Dean Whakatau to be reported immediately via the 111 system.
