Power out after early morning crash

Power at properties in Omanu, Te Maunga and Matapihi is understood to be out following an incident in Matapihi in the early hours of this morning.

The outage is believed to have been caused when a car hit a power pole on Matapihi Road at around 1am.

The car reportedly rolled on impact, but emergency services have confirmed that the driver and any occupants had left the scene by the time they arrived.

The impact brought down power lines in the immediate vicinity and authorities have estimated that normal service will resume by 3pm this afternoon.

seems to me that people just arent getting it. If the driver and maybe passengers have fled the scene they could have been speeding or other substances were being used....life is not a trial run.....
