A Bay of Plenty man who hightailed it from Tauranga District Court after being remanded in custody is evading police.

Cohen Ratcliff, of Tauranga, pleaded not guilty to one count of wounding with intent at the beginning of the month when he leapt from the dock and fled the court room.

Despite being pursued by court security and police officers, Ratcliff managed to slip away.

He was last seen running down McLean Street.

A number of searches have been conducted at addresses Ratcliff is known to visit, but there is still no sign of him.

Any sightings of Ratcliffe should be reported immediately to Police using the 111 system.
