Last call for toll accounts

The toll road formerly known as Route K moves to electronic tolling this Saturday, rendering all old Tauranga City council toll cards useless in the process.

Now known as the Takitimu Drive Toll Road, the stretch will have electronic tolling, and regular toll road users are being encouraged to open a new account with the NZ Transport Agency.

Customers who would like to pay for electronic tolling as they go will be able to pay online at: www.tollroad.govt.nz or at selected service stations.

Tolls can be paid before using the road, otherwise you have five days to pay after your trip once the bill arrives at whichever address the vehicle is registered.

Transaction fees apply to tolls purchased at service stations.

Tauranga City Council has operated three types of Route K account: fleet accounts, Imprest accounts and QuicK cards. No new Imprest accounts have been opened since April 10, while the sale of QuicK cards ended on April 17.

QuicK card holders are invited to apply for a refund using the QuicK card refund form on the council's website. Imprest card holders will be sent a refund for their unused credit in August.

Card holders can organise refunds here.

why do I have to hand over $20 to setup an account? How about it just bills my credit card when I use a toll road. Ridiculous!

Can do

A great little earner, only a two dollar transaction fee on account that one computer has to talk to another. The banks will be happy.
