Meth accused in custody

The man arrested following a suspected P-lab bust in Te Puna will remain behind bars until early next week.

Anthony Hennessey, 43, appeared in Tauranga District Court today charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of precursor materials.

He entered no plea to the two charges and has been remanded in custody until Monday.

Hennessey was arrested after Western Bay of Plenty Police, assisted by Rotorua Armed Offender's Squad, executed a search warrant at a rural property in Te Puna in the early hours of this morning.

Police say a suspected clandestine methamphetamine lab was located at the property.

Hennessey will re-appear in the Tauranga District Court on Monday.
