A 46-year-old woman is in serious condition with suspected spinal injuries after falling from a shed.

The Rotorua-based BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a farm near Kihi Kihi, 30km south-east of Hamilton, around 5.54pm.

A woman had fallen four metres in a shed and sustained suspected spinal injuries.

She was initially treated by St John Ambulance staff before the rescue helicopter was called.

'The chopper was called to transport the woman due to the nature and seriousness of her injuries,” says a statement from the rescue helicopter.

'A landing zone was set up in a horse arena nearby to the scene. The woman was airlifted to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition with the flight crew using NVG.”
