Man shoots nail through hand

Putting up a tent for his dog landed a man in hospital over the weekend after he nailed his hand to a piece of wood.

The man was making a wooden frame to allow his dog to go in and out of the tent at a campground on Omokoroa Road when he shot the nail through his hand on Sunday afternoon.

A man suffered hand injuries after nailing his hand to a piece of wood in Omokoroa.

The Omokoroa Fire Brigade were called to assist the man, aged in his 60s, at about 4.50pm.

Acting fire chief Simon Priest says firefighters managed to remove part of the canvas tent and supported the man until paramedics arrived from Katikati.

'We did what we could,” says Simon.

'He wasn't in any danger, his hand was up relatively high and supported, so there was little blood loss.”

The man was transported to Tauranga Hospital in a stable condition.
