Te Puke truck crash victim named

Police have named Sing Yieng Pau, known locally as Lisa Yieng, as the woman killed in a crash on Saturday.

The Te Puke 36-year-old attempted a U-turn in front of an oncoming logging truck on State Highway 2, near Pah Road, around 7.30am.

Lisa was the only person in a vehicle that crashed with a fully laden logging truck on Saturday morning.

Acting Senior Sergeant Scott Merritt says Lisa was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash and died as a result of injuries she sustained.

The driver of the truck appears to be uninjured.

'Serious Crash investigators have attended the scene and enquiries are continuing to establish further details as to the exact cause of the crash,” says Scott.

Police are calling for any witness to the crash, who have not yet spoken with police, to contact them at Tauranga Police Station on 07 577 4300.

'Police would like to take this opportunity to reinforce the message to all motorists to take extra care on our roads to ensure they arrive safely at their destination.”
