Police investigating the theft of a boat in the Bay of Plenty have turned to social media in the hope of solving the case.

The boat is a navy blue and cream Buccaneer 605 Excess that was stolen from a Taupo property in the early hours of May 16.

'CCTV shows it being driven southbound on Tongariro Street through Taupo by a light-coloured four-door sedan,” says a post on the Bay of Plenty Police Facebook page.

'Its former name of ‘Atlas' is still visible on the boat and the name ‘Atlas' is also on the near-new trailer.”
