'Rather than dig something out of the vaults we thought we should really get into the Music Month idea and do something from scratch.” says Derek. 'It's always good to have a bit of a challenge.”

The band assembled at Whakamarama's Boatshed Studio on the first weekend of the month and recorded the song that Saturday.

Derek and bass player/studio owner Nigel Masters then mixed the recording on the Sunday and drummer Ian 'Beano” Gilpin returned the following Tuesday to add a little extra percussion.

'The songs a bit of a nod to New Orleans music,” says Derek, 'so we needed a bit more percussion than usual and Beano's really nailed that Louisiana groove.”

Kokomo's ‘World's Most Jealous Girl' has now gone out to radio stations around the country.

Derek feels Grant has done an amazing job on the video saying: 'I had thought we'd just do the quickest video we could.”

'So we only gave Grant a couple of photos by Colin Lunt and asked him to simply make them change colour with the words scrolling past. But wow!

'That's what happens when you get an artist to work on something. He's created a real thing of beauty I reckon, and it's only slightly silly.”
