Reward offered for stolen caravan

A Mount Maunganui resident is doing everything he can to get his stolen caravan back by offering a $1000 reward.

Jonas Ruf's caravan was stolen from outside his Hart Street home sometime on Monday evening.

Jonas Ruf says his caravan has a lot of sentimental value to him and he would love to get it back.

'The last time I saw it was 10pm on Monday night,” he says, 'and by the time I went to work the next day (Tuesday morning at 7 am) it was gone.

'My caravan had been a project of mine over the last six months. I put a lot of time, hard work and a bit of my soul into transforming the old Pixie 10 into something new.”

From the interior to the exterior and even the wiring, Jonas has replaced the lot.

Even the cabinets were crafted by his own hands.

'I took it on a road trip for the first time to the West Coast just before Christmas,” he adds.

'It's a real shame that someone has taken it.”

Jonas is doing everything he can to get the caravan returned to him.

As well as offering a reward, he has been posting flyers around Mount Maunganui and has had about 1450 shares of his story on Facebook.

'I was talking to police and they say this sort of thing is quite common,” explains Jonas. 'Apparently people hook up to trailers and caravans onto cars and just drive away. 'It has so much sentimental value to me, no money in the world could make up for its loss. This is why I am offering a reward of $1000 to the person who can bring it back to me.”

Jonas asks anybody with information about the caravan's whereabouts to contact him on: 021 201 9060.
