A Tauranga Boys' College local derby, will take centre stage in the WBOPCA First XI cricket competition this weekend when TBC White square off with TBC Blue.

Both teams will enter the battle between schoolmates at Waipuna Park, with unbeaten Term One records.

Last weekend TBC Blue easily despatched Katikati College, while TBC White sat out the bye.

TBC Blue posted 189/7 with Bay of Plenty age group rep Craig Baldry top scoring with 59 not out. The Tauranga Boys' bowlers then removed Katikati for 114 to claim a solid victory.

Bethlehem College First XI will be looking to Daniel Price to lead the way in their weekend clash with Mount Maunganui Gold.

Price was in outstanding form last week smashing 102, as Bethlehem blasted 216/7 then bowled Otumoetai College out for 105, with Cam Riley taking a five wicket bag for the victors.

However, Mount Gold also showed good form last Saturday when they posted their first win of the competition. Led by 124 from Nathan Walker, the Mount team posted 284/8 and went on to dismiss Trident High School for just 86.

Last weekend's match-up between Taupo Combined Schools and Aquinas College was a short and sharp affair, with Aquinas bowling their opponents out for 67, then cruising to a 10 wicket win.

The Taupo side will get an opportunity to move up the point's ladder, when they host Trident, who has a team of promising young players, mostly experiencing Baywide cricket for the first time.

Katikati College have the opportunity to put their first points on the board this weekend when Otumoetai College pay a visit to the Western Bay extremities.
