Police investigating the disappearance of a man have found a body in the bush area off 309 Road, between Whitianga and Coromandel.

Police have confirmed the body was found about 2pm yesterday but have not confirmed if it is that of the missing man.

A man's body has been found in bush between Whitianga and Coromandel.

'Officers were deployed to the area to commence a search for a man reported missing by a member of the public,” says a statement from police.

'The body of a man was discovered before police arrived.”

A scene examination is being carried out to try and establish the circumstance surrounding the man's death.

No other information is available at this time.
