Independent party’s official launch

The NZ Independent Coalition Party is launching its campaign to contest the general election next Tuesday night at what is being called a place where it all started – the beach.

The Bay of Plenty-based political partywill formally launch its campaign at the Omanu Surf Club from 5.30pm on July 29.

NZ Independent Coalition Party candidates Michael O'Neill, Brendan Horan and Pat Spellman will stand in this year's general election.

With less than two months until Kiwis vote in the September 20 general election, NZIC's launch will offer a full rundown of its candidates, a glimpse into what priority policy will be made available and Independent MP Brendan Horan's first speech as the party leader.

NZIC Waiariki candidate Pat Spellman is looking forward to celebrating 'many months of hard work” with members and supporters.

'It's an opportunity to come together with friends, whanau, party members and also members of our community – and shine some light on not only the exciting prospects in store for us all leading into September, but also just relax and reflect on some seriously hard work bringing this all together.”

The radio announcer was announced as a party candidate on July 14 along with former Bay of Plenty Regional councillor Michael O'Neill, who are joined by former NZ First member Brendan Horan as party leader.

Brendan is switching electorates, this year standing for the Bay of Plenty electorate, while Michael takes the Tauranga electorate candidacy and Pat the Waiariki Electorate.

Michael, who is also party chairperson, is looking forward to presenting the full list of NZIC candidates.

'These are some seriously skilled, passionate and talented individuals – all dedicated to serving the communities they live in,” says Michael.

This event is open to all members of the community and will take place on Tuesday, July 29, from 5.30pm at Omanu Surf Club, 15 Surf Rd, Omanu. Live music will be provided via Peri Kohu.
